Q. What are the benefits provided by Health Savers?

The Health Saver takes care of all preventive & pre-hospitalisation healthcare needs, providing free or subsidised services across the following categories:
  • Dentists
  • Doctors of virtually all specialisations
  • Pathology labs
  • Radiology labs
  • Pharmacies (this offer is presently available in select cities only)
  • Dial a Doctor – you can receive medical advice related to routine or minor illnesses instantly over the phone from a qualified medical practitioner
Additional Features:
  • Second Opinion: If you would like a second opinion forcritical diseases, IHO will help arrange this free of cost from expert doctors on the panel. This feature is available on select membership plans only

Q. What are the different Health Saver membership options provided by IHO?
A.
The different membership options & membership fees are as given below:
  • Individual Health Saver (1 Health Saver Card + 2 Health Check Vouchers) - membership benefits for one person only
  • Couple Health Saver (2 Health Saver Cards + 4 Health Check Vouchers) – membership benefits for two people
  • Family Health Saver (4 Health Saver Cards + 4 Health Check Vouchers) - membership benefits for 4 people

Q. I have never heard of Health Savers. Is it a new concept?
A.
Health Savers are a new concept in India, but otherwise Health Savers are an internationally acclaimed concept, as old as 30 years in the developed nations, especially the United States of America and Europe, where more than 40% of all patients in these countries are Health Saver members.

Q. I already have health insurance. Why should I take an Health Saver membership?
A.
The IHO Health Saver offers benefits that help take you save money on your day-to-day preventive and pre-hospitalisation medical expenses. Insurance on the other hand typically covers you against serious illnesses when you are hospitalised. So, Health Savers and Health Insurance are not competing products, but instead products that offer end-to-end benefits for all your health needs.:

Q. What specialisations of doctors are part of the panel?
A.
The IHO network covers virtually most doctor specialisations, for example:

Q. How do I know that IHO doctors are of a good standard?
A.
Only those doctors are added to the network who meet the rigorous empanelment criteria decided by IHO’s panel of medical experts. Some of the criterion that they need to meet is:
  • Masters Degree
  • Registered Doctors
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • IHO Certification on Clinic Hygiene Standards
Only if he/she has good practice or name that any of the above points may be overlooked. Therefore, you can rest assured that all doctors on the network are of high quality.

Q. What tests are covered under the Positive Health Check vouchers that are issued?
A.
The Positive Health Check vouchers entitle a customer to enjoy 50% concession on a health check up package comprising of the following tests:

Complete Blood Counts with ESR
Blood Group & Rh Factor
Urea (For kidney function)
Creatinine (For kidney function)

Q. How much do I have to pay for the health check ups? What is the benefit that I am getting?
A.
Along with the welcome kit, you will receive Positive Health Check vouchers. If you choose to avail of these tests, you will just need to pay 50% of the normal rates charged directly to the lab at the time of getting the tests done. This translates to a savings of close to Rs 4,000 per voucher!
It is compulsory to present the voucher to the lab to avail of this benefit.

Q. How do I obtain the list of doctors empanelled for this facility?
A.
IHO has a very simple process to help you find the best doctors suitable for your requirement. Any time you require a doctor, please call up the IHO Helpline number mentioned on your card. Our Customer Service executives will be happy to guide you as per your requirement.
Our list of empanelled doctors is constantly updated and increased, therefore this process ensures that the best possible doctor is referred to you. IHO empanels only very high standard doctors so you can rest assured that you are in safe hands. I would be happy to share a few examples of the medial practitioners empanelled with us.

Q. What is the time for delivery of card to the customer? What is the process to be followed in case I do not receive the card within the specified time?
A.
You will receive the Health Saver card within 14 working days after realisation of your payment. In the unlikely event that you do not receive the card within this time period, please call up the IHO Helpline at the numbers mentioned below:

Q. What is the validity of the Health Check vouchers? What will I do with so many Health Check vouchers?
A.
The validity of the Health Check vouchers is for six months. However, I would encourage you to use the vouchers as soon as possible, as these tests will help you get an accurate picture of your present health. Also, the Health Check vouchers are fully transferable and can be used by any person you wish to give them to, therefore they would never be wasted.

Q. Why should I take a membership – I do not go to doctors.
A.
You are very lucky that you have been keeping healthy so far. However, unfortunately we cannot assume that this will continue to be the case. This is like paying for an insurance premium – you hope that you do not have to use it, but if something does happen, it will make things easier for you. Also, you should not only wait for an illness to happen to use an IHO Health card – it can help take care of your preventive health check-ups etc at a lower cost.

Q: I have never heard of IHO. Can you please tell me something about this company? How can I trust the company?
A:
IHO is a medical accreditation company that certifies medical practitioners on the basis of strict criteria. Therefore, when you become an Health Saver member, you can rest assured that all medical practitioners on the network are high quality.
IHO is an organisation formed for the cause of making high quality healthcare more affordable in India, & senior professionals have joined hands for this. Organisations like Indian Dental Association are our partners for the cause of promoting preventive healthcare in the country. Several eminent personalities like the Honourable Finance Minister of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Health Minister of Delhi Professor Kiran Walia have also appreciated the good work being done by IHO. Q. Each time I go to a doctor do I need to call the helpline – why do you not provide the list of doctors? Or if I am regularly visiting one doc do I need to recheck each time with you?
A.
IHO constantly reviews the quality of services being offered by empanelled doctors. In case IHO is not entirely satisfied with the feedback members are giving about a particular doctor, IHO may choose to remove the doctor from the network. Also, IHO constantly adds new doctors to the network based on understanding member needs. So, it is advisable for you to always call on our toll-free helpline – firstly, you can check that the doctor is still part of the network; also, you may find that a new doctor has been added who is more suitable for you.

Q. Is IHO registered with IRDA?
A.
IRDA is a regulatory body that governs the working of insurance companies in India. As IHO is not an insurance company, it does not come under IRDA.

Q Is there any Age Limit and Age Cover for the membership of the card?
A.
No! There is absolutely no age limit or cover restrictions for Health Saver membership. But a minor needs to be accompanied with an adult for check ups etc.

Q. How many members in the family can be covered (Min and Max Number of cards)
A:
In a Family membership up to 4 members can be covered. If there are any more persons in the family, additional individual/ couple/ family memberships can be taken.

Q. How will I know if there will be enough doctors in my locality?
A.
To ensure a uniformly high level of service, IHO has been very selective about the medical practitioners empanelled on their network, using strict criterion defined by a panel of medical experts. Moreover, IHO has only partnered with medical practitioners who believe in the cause of promoting better preventive health awareness in the country, and are not doing this for commercial gains. This may mean that you have to travel a little more to find an IHO empanelled medical practitioner, however you will be able to rest assured about the quality of service.

Q. What happens after the validity of the IHO card has expired?
A.
Membership benefits of the Health Saver are no longer valid once the card validity is over. To ensure uninterrupted benefits, you should renew your membership prior to card expiry. This can be done by calling up the IHO Helpline and paying the membership fees for one more year.

Q. What is IHO’s affiliation with IDA?
A.
Health Savers have received an overwhelming response from the medical fraternity, with the best names in the industry supporting the organisation. The Indian Dental Association, the leading association of dentists in India, has partnered with IHO as they strongly support the cause of promoting better preventive healthcare in the country. All IHO initiatives, including Health Savers, are fully supported by the IDA.

Q. What if some doctor on the network leaves midway?
A.
IHO constantly reviews its doctor network based on member feedback, therefore there is a small possibility that a doctor may be dropped from the network from time to time. However, IHO will always ensure that a suitable new doctor is added to the network as a replacement, so that your needs are taken care of.

Q. What is the system of IVR billing for payment of the membership fees? How is it safe?
A.
This is a totally secure billing system hosted by atom technologies, certified by both Visa & MasterCard. It is an automated system for debiting a credit card over the phone – there is no human intervention at all, and the details you provide are also through the keypad of your phone. Therefore, there is absolutely no chance of any misuse, so you have no reason to worry.

Q. Do you also give discount on surgeries?
A.
The Health Saver focuses on the pre-hospitalisation medical expenses, where there is no medical insurance available. Procedures like surgeries are typically covered through health insurance schemes. However, for smaller surgeries like lasik, cataract or whatever is performed by doctor within clinic, you shall be entitled for the concession.

Q. How many doctors do you have all over India?
A.
IHO has close to 4,500 across the following cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Gurgaon, Cochin, Kolkata, Noida, Faridabad, Sonepat, Chandigarh, Vadodara, Ghaziabad, Surat & Patna. Moreover, the list of doctors is being increased on a continuous basis.

Q. How many doctors do you have in each area? Do you have enough doctors in South Delhi (example)?
A.
IHO has taken care to make sure that there are adequate numbers of doctors of each kind in all zones of a city. In your case, there will definitely be enough suitable doctors for you in south Delhi. IHO has been selective about the doctors empanelled, taking only high quality doctors. This may mean that you have to travel a bit more than your immediate locality, but you will definitely receive high quality of service.

Q. Can I gift this card to someone?
A.
Yes, it is possible for you to gift this card to someone by paying the annual membership fees for the first year. As per your instructions, we can send the card/s either to you or the person you are gifting it to. However, your own Health Saver membership card is not transferable and cannot be used by anyone else.

Q. What happens if there is an emergency and I need to go to a doctor & your call centre is not working?
A.
The Health Saver is meant to help you focus on preventive health care for you & your family, so that you can hopefully avoid emergency situations. In the unfortunate case of an emergency, we strongly recommend that you rush to an emergency care facility.

Q. How do we know that doctors won’t increase the rate and then give discount to IHO members?
A.
For that primary reason, we always ask the member to discuss rates before treatment starts and then go ahead, so that no confusion happens later. IHO has been extremely selective about the doctors empanelled on the Health Saver network to ensure that only high quality, ethical doctors are part of the panel. Moreover, all doctors who are part of the network have given their fees for consultations/ treatments to us & you can verify the same when you call up the IHO Helpline. In addition, IHO constantly has their own Service Quality teams checking to see that no such issues occur. Even after this, in case you come across any such problem, please call up the IHO Helpline immediately and we will try to resolve the issue.

Q. Can I receive a reversal of membership fees if I am not happy?
A.
IHO is confident that you will not have any reason to be unhappy with the services provided on the Health Saver. However, if by chance you have a bad experience, please call us up and we will look into the matter immediately.

You will receive the welcome pack within 14 working days after realization of payment of annual membership fees.

Q. You said IHO contributes to society- how?
A.
A percentage of the money received as membership fees is given to charitable causes. In addition, IHO also regularly organizes free health checkup camps for underprivileged sections on society.
